For a few days each February the streets of Myrtle Beach are transformed into a scene that is the backdrop to a memorable experience. The popular Myrtle Beach Marathon is an annual tradition that attracts thousands of people from all over the country. This year marks the 17th year that MyrtleBeach.com has sponsored this increasingly popular event. The MyrtleBeach.com Myrtle Beach Marathon and Half Marathon will begin at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15. The course is described as “fast, flat and beautiful.” A Neon Night 5K and a Fun Run sponsored by Ripley’s Aquarium will be held Friday night and the marathon and half marathon are Saturday morning. Register early to receive discounted pricing. If you’re not in the race come on out to cheer on the runners or to volunteer your time to help this great event.
The Ripley’s Family Fun Run takes place the Friday before the Myrtle Beach Marathon each year. The Fun Run will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, February 14 beginning at Ripley’s Aquarium. The one-mile course will begin and end near Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach. Race times are not recorded for the family-fun run.
Come out and take part in the Neon Night 5K during the Myrtle Beach Marathon weekend. The Neon Night 5K will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 14 at Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach. The course begins at Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach and finishes at Pelicans Stadium nearby. Awards will be given out for top three male and female finishes, top three male and female masters finishers and in several age groups.
Registration for the marathon, half marathon and fun run is open (click here) and events are filling up fast for the marathon weekend, February 13 – 15, 2014, so register early!
